Announcing the Mimesis Documentary Festival

We are pleased to announce the inaugural Mimesis Documentary Festival will run August 5-9, 2020! The festival is part of the Mimesis project, an initiative at the Center for Documentary and Ethnographic Media supporting nonfiction media.

This Mimesis Documentary Festival is a filmmaker-focused event built around the idea that creative communities provide a generative space for ethical and impactful cultural production. These communities are also a space for artists, thinkers, and producers to find and grow their own networks, providing opportunity and inspiration to sustain future work. The Mimesis Festival is the foundation for just this kind of community, and over the coming years we will build a sustainable and resilient platform to connect local and regional artists to national and international networks in the field.

We hope that you will submit your latest work to be screened or exhibited at Mimesis this summer, but more importantly, that you will join us in a genuine community-building effort to support ethical, impactful, and exemplary documentary media.
